Is It Wrong To Blog From Work?
Hey, it's been a slow week in the office. I think there are just 4 other people here today. Brutally quiet.
Huge disappointment this morning. Thought it would be fun to try a new grab-n-go breakfast. VitaMuffin VitaTops. I tried the Deep Chocolate flavor; not "vitalicious" at all. Inconsistent texture; kinda dry and at the same time sticky on the outside. Not at all what I was hoping for. And now I have 3 left. Maybe a different flavor would have been better?

I couldn't finish the VitaTop, so I sliced up a fresh fig and ate that since I'm sure my smoothie (strawberries, mango, pineapple & coconut water) won't hold me until lunch. I'm really looking forward to leftovers from dinner: yellow squash enchilada with homemade roasted tomatillo sauce, sliced avacado, chopped tomato, and black beans.
Isn't this fig pretty?
When I finally move from an apartment to a house I'd like to have a fig tree. Maybe a whole orchard (er, grove?) of them!
Goodbye for now; I'll be daydreaming of fruit trees.

I'm Not Good at This Yet
5 months since my last post. Clearly I'm no dedicated blogger yet.
I look forward to lunchtime in my workplace for one reason. Gina. She is my food soulmate. (An example of how weirdly in-sync we are...today we each brought a whole mango to use in our respective lunches.) And she can brew one killer pot of chai tea with the office microwave and a thermal carafe.
We've concocted some really great meals using eachother's leftovers, fresh produce, and the odd condiment. Today, she contributed quinoa to my salad of romaine, mango, black beans, grape tomatoes, cucumber, cilantro, and feta. I dressed it with some lemon and a few dashes each of Gina's olive oil and Tabasco. Sounds like a strange combo but it was delicious, with a kick! Yeah, teamwork!
I'm off to refill my water bottle and finish out the work day. Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday!

My salad was filling, but I'm already looking forward to my snack. Maybe just because the peanut butter packet is so stinking cute! It's a single serving in a foil packet, made by Justin's Nut Butter in Boulder, CO. Yummy.

Ahhh, First Post!
Well, hi! One month after my 28th birthday, I figured I'd try something new. Thanks for being here; I think I’ll break the ice with a story.
One Saturday, a few years ago, my boyfriend (now fiance!) and I were running errands. Our route took us past a Dunkin’ Donuts in an especially high-traffic area of a New York City suburb. An unfortunate Dunkin’ employee was standing in the median wearing a cup-of-coffee suit and waving to passing cars.
I’m still kicking myself for not having a camera with me, but picture this guy as hot coffee instead of iced.
Got the image?
Pass #1: the cup was all perky. Dancing around a little, waving to everyone, I think it even jumped and clicked its heels once. Typical mascot-like behavior.
Pass #2: an hour later, the cup was starting to droop. Sitting on the curb, “head” in hands, giving a half-hearted wave every few cars. I think it’s bored.
Pass #3: a few hours after the 1st, the cup is lying flat out on its back in the median. A car honks and the cup, still lying down, shakes one of its fists. Another honk and a yell out the window, the cup struggles to its feet, takes an almost super-hero stance, and flips the car a very impressive bird.
True story! And this keeps me a loyal Dunkin’ customer.
